Filming for ‘Walnut Tree’ wraps up

‘Midday Adventures’ director’s latest project concludes shooting.

Shooting for Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian’s latest feature ‘Walnut Tree’ has come to a wrap.

The film’s lead actor Peyman Maadi was the first to announce the completion of the filming stage following two months of shooting.

Based on the true story of the chemical weapons attacks on northwestern Iran by the US-backed former regime of Saddam Hussein, ‘Walnut Tree’ was mostly filmed in the affected region of Iran’s Kurdistan province.

The film is the award-winning director’s fifth feature following his highly successful films ‘Lottery’, ‘Midday Adventures’, ‘Midday Adventures: Trace of Blood’, and ‘Standing in the Dust’.

Produced by Seyed Mostafa Ahmadi, the cast of ‘Walnut Tree’ features Peyman Maadi, Mehran Modiri, and Mina Sadati, with details yet to be released on the remaining cast members.

Due to the heavy burden of the post-production stage, it is still unclear whether the film will be premiered at the 38th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival in 2020.
